The aim of this course is to discover and appropriate the language of the comic strip. We’ll be doing lots of games and exercises, both drawn and written, which will culminate in the production of comic strips.
At the end, a collection of these works will be printed and each participant will acquire a copy.
The aim is to become aware of the invisible mechanisms of the medium, and to do this we will be carrying out a number of games and drawing or writing exercises that will lead to the production of comic strips.
You don’t need to ‘know’ how to draw or have any experience of writing to take part. Throughout the course, we’ll be exploring a range of graphic works. These experiments will enable us to isolate elements of the comic strip thematically in order to grasp the issues involved. This will take place in four stages: drawing (abstract comics / writing is drawing), sequence (colour / metamorphosis), composition (cutting / play on scale) and storytelling (atmosphere and comics).
Material to be provided by the participant (list communicated at registration).
The course is taught in French.
