This workshop will focus on experimentation and mastering color with dry pastels. The approach will primarily involve extended sittings to give participants time to methodically develop their drawings, from precise composition to the final rendering using color and texture. Dry pastel techniques occupy a middle ground, blending the lines of drawing with the perception and logic of painting while addressing issues related to the application of color.
As the workshop progresses, we will explore composition by considering the body in space, or by using tighter framing that leads the artist to address concerns regarding forms and counter-forms, foregrounds and backgrounds, colors, and contrasts. The aim is to demonstrate an approach that allows both for the translation of perceived colors and for color to become a subject of expression.
Materials to be provided by the student (list provided upon registration).
Workshops are conducted in French and are reserved for adults and young people aged 16 and older.
