The sketchbook is the support of the course, it articulates the work accomplished and calibrates the progress of a personal writing. The pedagogical progression allows the student to acquire the keys to the representation of urban space. The essential notions of the representation of space are approached, with particular attention paid to the rendering of the atmosphere of places, through the work of light and framing.
In order to establish some of the fundamentals, the classes will first take place within the walls of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, before exploring the surrounding area: the historic heart of Paris (the banks of the Seine, the gardens of the Palais Royal, the Louvre, the streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and all the possibilities offered by the richness of the surroundings). The climatic variations will allow us to draw both in interior spaces (Chapelle des Beaux-Arts, Palais des études, museums, churches, covered passages) and exterior spaces (cour du Mûrier, cour des Beaux-Arts de Paris, streets, banks, bridges, squares, parks and gardens).
Courses are taught in French. Material to be provided by the participant (list communicated at registration).
Break in classes during spring break from April 24 to May 08, 2023.
