Fresco is a process that involves painting, or incising, a coating (fresh/wet) of lime and sand. As it dries, the lime fixes the pigment, which then mineralises. This is a natural process that has been known since ancient times. This technique is still famous today for the masterpieces it has enabled us to preserve, from Minoan and Roman paintings in Pompeii to the Italian Renaissance and today.
The aim of the course is to give you a good grasp of the tools and steps involved in creating a fresco.
of a fresco.

  • Presentation of materials (lime, sand, marble dust), tools and history of the technique.
  • Principles and process of “fresh” implementation: first small or medium format fresco (50×50 cm or 80×80 cm) on the workshop wall. Each student will create 2 frescoes during this first week.

The materials will be provided by the School.
Courses are taught in French.
