This course explores the immediate relationship between the gaze and the gesture: capturing form. Life drawing is approached holistically, with a focus on understanding the unity and coherence of the human body.
The course encourages quick poses to avoid focusing on details and to learn how to capture the essentials without weighing down the hand’s strokes.
Water-based techniques such as watercolor, gouache, ink, and diluted acrylic are favored for their quick drying time and transparency, which reveal the energy and momentum of the brushstrokes.
The acquisition of technical skills based on primary colors and their mixtures allows students to learn about color palettes, color components, and the phenomenon of light throughout the course.
This workshop provides sufficient knowledge and practice to allow students to paint freely.
Materials to be provided by the student (list provided upon registration).
Classes will be suspended during the spring break.
The course is taught in French.
