At the end of the 19th century, photography, in its infancy, borrowed heavily from printing techniques to develop. A myriad of hybrid processes mixing photography with wood engraving or lithography were created before disappearing as quickly as possible in the great march of progress.
This workshop proposes to apprehend all the stages of realization of photogravure on DK3 photopolymer:
Preparation and processing of the digital file, printing of the artwork, lamination of the photopolymer film, flashing and development of the film, printing.
After having assimilated the principle of photographic transfer, participants will be invited to explore the possibilities offered by this hybrid technique by developing a personal publishing project.
Materials provided by the School.
