This course teaches the theoretical bases of ceramics and introduces students to the various technical processes involved in making ceramic pieces of intermediate size, approximately 50 cm. It includes modelling and glazing clay, as well as an introduction to glazing. It includes clay modelling and colouring, as well as an introduction to glazing on terracotta.

Reproducing a form from nature, interpreting it or inventing it, all projects are accompanied by a builder’s eye for design, a sculptor’s eye for invention and a ceramist’s hand for implementation. Through reflection and imagination, the aim is to create with clay and bring a project to fruition.

Course schedule :

• Monday 7 July: Project drawings and start of sculpture modelling.
• Tuesday 8 July: Continuation of modelling and finishing the sculptures. (no class on Wednesday 9 July / drying of the pieces)
• Thursday 10 July: Finishing modelling the sculptures, and preparing for the first firing of the sculptures.
• Friday 11 July: Enamelling class and preparation for the first enamel firing.
• Saturday 12 July: Continuation of enamelling, preparation for the second enamel firing.
