Learn to draw by experimenting, develop a personal artistic work, considering drawing as a sensitive activity involving the whole body in relation to the subject.

Focusing on observational drawing and exploring our perceptive capacities, this course offers the opportunity to acquire the fundamentals of drawing while developing a personal artistic project. Held in the Chapelle des Beaux-arts, this course is inspired by the surrounding artworks and architecture, and by the occasional presence of a live model, to combine a classical and experimental approach. The emphasis is on observation, so that students learn to look at shapes and their relationships, to move from three to two dimensions, and to understand perspective and foreshortening.

At the same time, the study of movement in drawing will help to awaken perception and enrich graphic skills. It addresses bodily phenomena that are often intuitive, such as the movement of the gaze, the pressure of the line and the fluidity of the line, by confronting them with questions of space, light and formal choices and rhythms in the drawing. These explorations will be fuelled by contemporary artistic reflection, drawing inspiration from both contemporary creations and works from the past.

Materials to be provided by the student (list given on registration).
