Returning to the basics of figurative sculpture, the aim of the course is to learn how to model a volume in clay from the observation of a living model.
Learning to ‘see’ the form of the model and mastering the material to reproduce it are the two main elements that participants will be confronted with during this course. Using live model poses, they will learn how to view the human figure as a set of abstract forms that can be easily synthesised and sculpted in clay. Alternating between long and short poses, they will be trained to capture the accuracy of a human body with speed, thus acquiring sculpting and observation skills that can be used afterwards with any model.
