The aim is to approach the forms of the human figure through observation, using color in its function and possibilities (chromatic circle, simultaneous contrasts, values and hues, textures, chromatisms, transparency, spatiality, emotional effects, use of the chromatic circle, etc.).
Short breaks will provide an opportunity to reduce the color palette (bichromy, trichromy, etc.) and find color ranges that play on the contrasts inherent in color: simultaneous contrasts and contrasts in tonal values. Technical means will be centered on technique, while drawing techniques will be approached in order to propose the fundamental tools of body observation and graphic formalization: proportion, plumbness, direction, essential elements of morphology, technical demonstration.
Short pauses will provide an opportunity to reduce the color palette (bichromy, trichromy…) and find color ranges that bring into play the contrasts inherent in color: simultaneous contrasts and contrasts in tonal values.
Technical means will be centered on technique, while drawing techniques will be approached in order to propose the fundamental tools of body observation and graphic formalization: proportion, plumbness, direction, essential elements of morphology, technical demonstration. The first objective of the course will be to produce a drawing over a long period of time, using the means of color and a chromatic choice, to produce an observational drawing of the realistic human figure: observing, understanding and translating the human form plastically, using the properties of color.
Then, the second challenge will be to engage the process in a plastic approach by making successive overlaps until the lines of color, mass, transparency… go beyond representation in the strict sense, and force the draftsman to make choices in the interweaving of forms.
In this way, he or she is led to create planes, to give importance to certain elements to the detriment of others, and to lead what emerges plastically towards a composition that can show the model or abstract from it, or transform the image into a landscape.

In this way, observational drawing will be practiced, with all the challenges involved in restoring form to a compositional, inventive approach, exploring the possibilities of color.

The course is taught in French.

Material to be provided by the trainee (list communicated at registration).
